Marie Finn is a recognized Bucks County Artist. “Her portraits stop people. They are very lifelike” said Christopher Willett, owner of Village Artworks in Lahaska. He carried Finn’s portraits including “Walt Whitman”, “William Butler Yeats”, “U.S. Grant” and “The Girl with the Pearl Earring.”
The artist has exhibited in the Annual Phillips Mill Art Exhibit and won awards at both Ellarslie (The City of Trenton Museum) and Burlington, NJ Art Shows. She has taken 1st and 3rd place ribbons in the Cultural Arts Show in Flushing, NY. Notable personalities who own Marie’s portraits are: Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick; Police Commissioner John F. Timoney; former President of the Philadelphia 76ers, Pat Croce; Trenton Artist Laureate, Tom Malloy; and George Washington Re-enactor and History Teacher Kay Ward Vincent.
The mother of five studied art at Neshaminy High School under George Duris, winning a scholarship to Moore College of Art on Saturdays during her senior year. After raising her family, Marie returned to studying art. She is a four-year graduate of The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Prior to that Marie earned an Associate of Arts degree from Bucks County Community College graduating on the Deans List.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, Marie teaches drawing and painting in her Yardley studio. She also taught classes at St. Ignatius School and CAPS both in Yardley and Hunterdon County, NJ Adult Oil Painting. She has been guest speaker at Delaware Valley College for the Senior Art Program and St. Vincent’s in Germantown for retired priests.
The artist exhibits in many local galleries and juried shows. Finn is former Vice President of The New Hope Art League and a member of Artsbridge, TAWA, Artists of Yardley and Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County. Marie welcomes portrait commissions of all types: adult, child, ancestor, pet and house. |
